Minor PAN Card – Process to Apply PAN Card for a Child

What is a minor PAN card?

People under the age of 18 are granted the minor PAN card. Financial transactions, bank account establishment, and investing under the minor's name are its primary uses. Since minors are not allowed to sign documents, the PAN card is issued without a photo or signature. A person's minor PAN card needs to be changed to a major PAN card after they turn 18.

In the following situations, minors are required to hold a PAN card:

  • in cases where parents want to designate their minor kid as a nominee for their stocks, assets, or other financial instruments.
  • when parents spend money on the child's name.
  • when a child's bank account or Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana account needs to be opened for a minor girl.
  • Any income a minor has from investments or other sources is combined with their parent's income and is not subject to taxes.

However, minors require a PAN card, and it is taxable in the following situations:

  • when they have physical disabilities, such as blindness.
  • when they have independently earned money.
  • when they are compensated for their aptitude, expertise, and abilities.
