What is a PUC certificate?
A Pollution Under Control Certificate, or PUC certificate, certifies that your car satisfies the required emission regulations. The Motor Vehicle Act of 1988 mandates that all car owners possess a PUC certificate. Therefore, you must follow the law and carry this legal certificate anywhere you go in India, including Kerala. The PUC certificate is also available offline in Kerala. To achieve the same, you must perform the following:
- Visit the VAHAN portal of the Parivahan website or click here
- Then, click on “PUC Certificate.”
- Enter the vehicle registration number, chassis number (last five characters), and verification code
- Click on “PUC Details.”
- Print or download the pollution certificate

How to Obtain a PUC Certificate in Kerala Offline
The PUC certificate is also available offline in Kerala. To achieve the same, you must perform the following:
- Take your vehicle whether it’s a two-wheeler or four-wheeler, to the nearest emission testing centre
- The testing centre operator will analyse the exhaust emission by placing the testing device inside the vehicle’s exhaust pipe
- The operator will generate the PUC certificate based on the emission readings
- Then, finally pay the applicable fees and collect the pollution certificate
